Community Social Services Worker (CSSW)
The CSSW supports community members facing social and daily challenges by providing direct assistance or connecting individuals to appropriate resources and referrals. The role also serves as the Emergency Social Services Director within the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Program Oversight
The CSSW supervises the Adult Care Program, which includes Homemaker services, Home Support, and the Meal Program for existing adult care clients.
Client Assistance Services
The CSSW helps community members read, understand, and complete forms and applications for programs such as Old Age Security (OAS), Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), Employment Insurance (EI), boarding homes, free tax returns, special needs requests, and emergency travel requests.
Collaboration
The CSSW works closely with other village government departments, including the Adult Care Program, Social Development Administration, Housing, and the Director of Community Relations (EOC).
Additional Responsibilities
The role includes receiving and processing infestation and fumigation requests, conducting required home visits to confirm preparedness, coordinating with Orkin Canada, and ensuring homeowners provide proof of infestation with sealed samples and clear photographs.
