The department is dedicated to providing Nisg̱a’a citizens with access to safe, affordable, and structurally sound housing that meets modern health and safety standards, preserving community assets for future generations.
Core Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Overseeing capital projects, public works, and the structural preservation of village assets.
- Housing Program Administration: Managing community rental portfolios, new residential builds, and homeownership transitions.
- Subsidy & Maintenance Coordination: Facilitating application intake for residential remediation, emergency repairs, and Elder accessibility upgrades.
Homeowner Eligibility & Process Overview
To qualify for housing programs, new builds, or renovation assistance, community members must meet standard regulatory and financial criteria.
Key Requirements
- Status & Age: Applicants must be registered Nisg̱a’a citizens aged 19 or older.
- Clear Financial Standing: Applicants must have no outstanding rental arrears, historical mortgages, or community housing payments with the village government.
- Property Rights: Renovation applicants must hold a valid Land Entitlement Certificate and own the underlying home.
- Program Rules: Specific financial guidelines, down payment requirements, and long-term occupancy covenants apply depending on the program stream.

How to Apply

- Account & Title Verification: Ensure your Land Entitlement Certificate is active and confirm with the finance department that your municipal account is clear.
- Submit Your Intake Package: Deliver your completed application kit directly to the housing team at the Village Government Office for formal review.
